The OPENhouse and O. STUDIO DESIGN collaboration is the result of lending one's operating system to another. Textile and industrial design operate on different axises as their own individual disciplines. However, there are multitudinal parallels that exist between the two practices. The emphasis on materials is the commonality and preface to this partnership.
Without function the form is non existent.
Circularity tackles climate change and other global challenges like waste and pollution by keeping materials in use, either as a product or, when then that product can no longer be used, as components. The 3D knitted textiles used to produce the lamp shade are an exact demonstration of a circular design process.
OPENhouse’s fluid abstraction in form combined with O. STUDIO DESIGN’s engineered tactility brings a corporeal effect to an object, thus giving birth to the Perennial Lamp product line.
